STUDENTS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE

If students are under 18 years of age, it is possible for one of their parents or relatives to apply for a Student Guardian Visa to accompany them to Australia.

If students are under the age of 18 and wish to apply for a student visa, the Australian Government requires that students:

  • Live with a parent or custodian in Australia, or with a nominated eligible relative, who is over the age of 18; or

  • Make suitable accommodation arrangements with a supervised nominated caregiver approved by the College.

All students under the age of 18, are required to submit the ‘Pacific College of Technology ‘Student under 18 Care Giver Form’ when accepting an offer.

  • IT and Business Administration courses in certificate level requires a successful completion of Year 11 (or  overseas equivalent).
  • Diploma courses require completion of Certificate IV course or successful completion of Year 12 (or overseas equivalent). For further details, please refer to entry requirements of relevant course.
  • A student with successful completion of Year 10 and relevant work experience or a mature age students (21 or above) who have necessary industry experience can also apply.
  • The policy of Pacific College of Technology for student’s age requirement is 16 years or above.

Student who have successfully completed accredited courses e.g. Certificate, Diploma etc. from a recognised training organisation in Australia or overseas prior to enrolling at Pacific College of Technology may be eligible for Advanced Standing/RPL towards their current studies at this college. Student wishing to apply for Advanced Standing/RPL must complete an application for Advanced Standing/RPL form after they have received and accepted a formal offer of a place from the College. This form is available from reception desk. Forms must be submitted for processing before term census dates.

Student holding a Student Visa must apply Advanced Standing/RPL before enrolment. This is a requirement of Department of Home Affairs. Considering the number of Advanced Standing/RPL Units the department will make a decision for student’s duration of stay in Australia to complete the rest of the Course in this college.

  1. No enrolment submitted by the applicant shall be accepted without a written confirmation of a placement by the College.

  2. All tuition fees and other applicable fees must be paid prior to course commencement. Tuition fees may alter from time to time.

  3. Any variation of the terms and conditions of this Contract of Enrolment must be in writing and be signed by the College Principal.

  4. It is a condition of enrolment that the student attend all scheduled classes except where there is a legitimate reason for non-attendance which is acceptable to the College (for example, illness supported by a Doctor’s Certificate). If the enrolment is terminated due to a breach of this condition it is understood and agreed that there may be no entitlement to any refund of the tuition fees or other charges paid to the College under the Contract.

  5. The student is required to use their best endeavours to meet the requirements of the College program selected and to abide by the rules and regulations of the College. In case of any breach of the College’s rules and regulations, the enrolment may be cancelled and there may be no entitlement to any refund of the tuition fees or other charges paid to the College under the Contract.

  6. Course fees do not include the cost of text books, students will have to purchase these on commencement of the course.

  7. The student acknowledge that they have read and understood all the outlined College’s Policies in this page.

  8. Students are not required to be enrolled full time in their final semester where the students have been required to repeat units.

  9. A student is not permitted to repeat a unit of study more than once.

  1. All lessons and any material related thereto supplied by the College are copyright and shall remain the property of the College.

  2. Any unauthorised copying may constitute a breach of the Copyright Act 1968 (as amended).

  3. Upon completion of the course, all College materials supplied to me shall be returned to the College.

In line with the legislative provisions of the Commonwealth ESOS Act (2000), and in conjunction with the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (the National Code 2018), Pacific College of Technology (PCT) recognises that there are times when a student will require a valid refund of tuition fees paid in advance of study. International students must have overseas student health cover for the duration of their study in Australia as part of visa conditions. The OHSC cover fee for one year course is AU$693.00 (Single) and AU$8,081.50 (Family). These figures are subject to change; therefore, students are advised to contact Australian Health Management (AHM) or visit its website: www.ahm.com.au for current fee structures and costs.

The College reserves the right to change the particulars of the services, including changes of prices, courses, facilities and dates of programs; where circumstances beyond the College’s control necessitate such changes or where the level of enrolments do not reach the minimum numbers required to operate a course viably.

In the event of a dispute between an individual student and the College, procedures are in place to facilitate the resolution of the dispute. If you wish to lodge an external appeal or complain about this decision, you can contact the Overseas Students Ombudsman.

1. Code of Conduct, Attendance and Discipline.

Students are expected to abide by the terms and conditions of enrolment and the published rules and code of conduct of the College. Disciplinary procedures will be applied in the event of a breach of these rules. All staffs are expected to apply the College’s policy and rules fairly and without favour, but if a student considers that this has not occurred, the student may refer the matter to the Director of the Studies.

If the student is dissatisfied with the decision or in the absence of a Director of Studies, he/she may ultimately refer the matter to the Principal for determination. Complaints and grievances must be submitted in writing using the Student Complaint form and a written outcome of the result will be given to the student. Consult the Student Handbook for more information.

2. Service and Academic Programs.

In the event of a student complaint concerning the quality of the service or teaching provided by the College, the student will report the matter to a person in a position of authority within the College. The complaint may either be dealt with by that person, or referred to the Principal for resolution. The decision will be conveyed in writing to the parties.

3. Contractual and financial issues.

Matters relating to the interpretation of the contract, or the payment or refund of fees, are stated clearly in the Application for Admission. Any queries relating to course fees and other charges payable to the College will initially be dealt with by the College Finance and Administration staff. If the student is dissatisfied with the decision; matter will be referred to the Principal.

This Agreement does not remove the right to take further action under Australia’s consumer protection laws. Any default by the College will be covered by the provisions of the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations 2001. Additionally, students can access independent dispute resolution services through the Australian State Education Authority responsible for approving providers to offer courses to overseas students.
